A Fresh Start
After pretending to be a choir director for six years, I finally threw in the towel. Not to disband the choir, mind, just to have someone run it who wasn’t me. It turns out I didn’t have to look far.
Sitting quietly and competently in the soprano section was Janine, and although it was known to me that she was a successful director of children’s choirs and a talented teacher, it was also known to me that she was a very, very busy woman, indeed.
However, the temptation to take on our choir (as well as the desire to not see it founder) proved to be too much, and she decided she might be able to somehow shoehorn running a choir into her already hectic life. And we are very fortunate that she did.
Having a fresh voice, new songs, and a trained teacher have made a huge difference already. We ended the previous term with 14 active members and so far this term—only three weeks in—our numbers have risen to 20 and counting.
As for me, I am content to return to the Tenor section, as the only member, where I started from six years ago.
